Michele K. Sutton, FACHE
ACHE Chair-Elect; President & CEO of North Oaks Health System, Hammond LA

Michelle K. Sutton, FACHE, president/CEO, North Oaks Health System, Hammond, La., has been elected the 2024–2025 Chair-Elect of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
As Chair-Elect, Sutton begins the first part of a three-year term followed by serving as Chair and Immediate Past Chair.
Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Sutton served as an ACHE Regent for Louisiana from 2015 to 2018. She also has served on several ACHE committees, and she was president and vice president of ACHE—Southeast Louisiana Chapter, which later merged with another chapter to become the Louisiana Chapter of Healthcare Executives.
Sutton joined North Oaks Health System in 1988 as a community resources officer. Since then, she was promoted in 2006 to COO, and again in 2008 to executive vice president and COO. In 2012 she assumed the additional roles of administrator and CEO of North Oaks Medical Center, and in 2017 she was appointed president and CEO of the health system.
In addition to her service to ACHE, Sutton has been a member of the Louisiana Hospital Association since 1988, where she has served on numerous committees, and is a member-at-large for the association’s board, its political action committee board and its trust fund’s board. She also serves on the American Hospital Association’s Foster G. McGaw Committee, and she is actively involved in numerous organizations, including the Northshore Business Council; Northshore Healthcare Alliance, for which she is a past chair; and the New Orleans chapter of the Women’s Healthcare Executive Network.
She has received several accolades during her career, including the 2018 Legacy Award and the 1999 Outstanding Woman in Business Award from the Greater Hammond Chamber of Commerce. She also received the 2007 Golden Pelican Marketer of the Year Award from the Louisiana Hospital Association’s Public Relations and Marketing Constituency Group.nswick.

With more than 20 years of experience in consulting and healthcare administration, Chris Herzog understands the operational needs and challenges associated with leading an organization towards one cohesive medical delivery system. As Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Atlantic Medical Group, he provides the leadership and vision necessary to ensure that Atlantic Medical Group can effectively strengthen its operational efficiency and financial strength. He is responsible for driving the organization to meet its objectives, making sure that people, policies and procedures mirror the core values of Atlantic Medical Group.
Previously, Chris was Chief Financial Officer at Atlantic Medical Group, responsible for all financial activities as they relate to the growing needs of the revenue cycle, strategic planning, capital and operating budget development and management, as well as accounting, financial and operating reporting capabilities. Before coming to Atlantic Medical Group, he was Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, the multispecialty ambulatory delivery arm of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Prior to his work at Johns Hopkins, he spent 10 years in the consulting field, most recently with Deloitte Consulting in their Health Care Strategy and Operations practice, where he focused on engagements related to revenue cycle, mergers and acquisitions and hospital and ambulatory operations evaluation and optimization.

Dr. Gian S. Varbaro, MD, MBA, is the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Ambulatory Services at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, where he has played a key role in transforming the hospital into a top-performing healthcare institution.
With over two decades of leadership in hospital medicine and healthcare management, Dr. Varbaro has a proven track record of improving patient care, operational efficiency, and medical education. He has held leadership roles at institutions like Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Vincent’s Health Services, and Jackson North Medical Center, where he led a successful clinical turnaround.
A board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Varbaro is also a dedicated educator at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and a valued public health leader.
